God has created the Earth, Mankind and all the
living beings on earth. Every preacher talks about God’s love & loving
others. One thing we need to remember that the Almighty would have definitely
embedded the love of Nature as part of his this “Divine” creations, as without
a clean & less polluted environment it is difficult for the current
generation to survive & we are probably making the life of our coming
generation miserable. So love your God, Love the Mankind & Love your Nature
too. ‘Global Warming’ needs to be taken up as Warning for all. Loving nature
should not be mistaken for liking nature. We all like nature but if you love
nature then we better nurture it.
Let us look at the root cause of this issue. Take
any Industry, Religion or be it we ourselves, we contribute fully or partially
to it. It could be Industrial deposal, emissions, burning crackers during
festivals and many more. Surprisingly All International Certifications &
Standards are doing their best to keep the environment clean, however expected result
is not really evident. I would highlight a simple example below:
Firecrackers can cause hearing loss, high blood
pressure, sleeping disturbances and sudden exposure to loud noise can cause
temporary or permanent deafness or even result in heart attack. Nausea and
mental impairment are also some of the side effects of firecrackers.
An environmental activist says, “Firecrackers
should be banned as they cause a number of health hazards. People come down
with all sorts of respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis. Air and
noise pollution are also the side effects of firecrackers that are responsible
for various injuries. The smog that is created is responsible for a number of
accidents due to reduced visibility.” So can we jointly reduce the usage??
The Central Pollution Board of India has banned
firecrackers with a decibel level of more than 125 at a distance of 4 meters
from the bursting point. There has also been a considerable effort to do away
with the infamous 1000 chain bombs.
We've been conditioned to believe that Chinese
cities are the world's most polluted. Well surprise, actually, the country with
the dubious distinction of having the most polluted cities in the world in
terms of air quality is India, not China.. The World Health Organization stats
speak for themselves concentration of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers or
smaller in the air of these cities (PM2.5) that are particularly dangerous
since they can penetrate deeply into our lungs. More information from the 2014
report can be found.
What we can do from our end in the year 2016 as the New Year begins let us
vouch that we will try to follow the below:
·
Carry your Jute Bags while going to buy
Groceries. I do this 80% , however the shopkeepers look at me as stranger &
odd man out, but I need to explain them why I use less plastics.
·
When you shop ask the shopkeeper not to give you
the plastic bags, you can use the basic packing since most of us are using our
Cars.
·
Pollution Board may not solve the issue, however
we can ourselves contribute by spreading by word of mouth to all our Industrial Colleagues the need for participating in Global Warming, I mean to help reduce
Pollution either Water or Air.
·
As a general practice, I do not burst crackers
at home for any of the festivals. Accordingly we call can try to reduce the
usage of crackers, in Churches, Temples, General gatherings, celebrations all
can join in hands to achieve the goal.
·
If you can restrain from Throwing the garbage to
neighbor’s compound
·
While trekking or going for Picnics avoid using
plastic bottles & throwing the same on the hills & roadsides.
But all these needs a bit of courage as you may
be looked at as odd man out in the crowd J
Let the Earth & Environment get back normal and let it be a place for
happy & peaceful living.Wishing you all a very Happy & Prosperous New Year.
